Workshop: Building an anagama kiln

11.7. - 7.8.2016 / Workshops from 2 days to 4 weeks

Special opportunity to build an anagama kiln with kiln building master Andres Allik (EST). The kiln will be seven meters long and one and half meter high. After an anagama part there will be a small salt chamber and a secret chamber.

Building will take approximately four weeks.  Kiln floor and walls will be build during the first two weeks (11. - 24.7.). Arch and chimney will be build on the third and fourth weeks (25.7. - 7.8.). Actual timetable for each stage however depends on many factors and the given scheduling is an estimate.

Participants can use the ceramic studio freely and make ceramic pieces, for example to the first anagama firing later in the autumn.

Overnight accomodation at Kuu is available for participants, in a shared room for four persons. Common bathroom and toilets are located just outside the room. All the participants have access to a spacious kitchen with all the equipment needed for cooking and dining. We offer daily lunch for the participants and also good big breakfasts for the overnighters.

Glass & Ceramic Center Kuu locates in a beautiful and peaceful country village called Mallusjoki. It is surrounded by fields and forrests. Nearby lake Mallus is just few hundred meters away. Takinkääntöviikko, village's own music festival, will take place on 24. - 31.7. The venue is less than kilometer away from Kuu.
